A superb cover of the 1974 masterpiece "Sun Goddess" by Ramsey Lewis, the jazz-funk master who sadly passed away on September 22, 2022.
The song begins with a dry drum break, which is then beautifully intertwined with ROBERT "DUBWISE" BROWNE's cutting guitar and saxophone solo.
The key to the song is the rhythmic electric piano, which gives off a breeze that blows away the summer heat. It's faithful to the original, but has a pleasant Balearic feel.
The flip side features a Dub Style track, mixed by Steven Stanley, the man behind the groundbreaking sounds of Grace Jones and Tom Tom Club.
The jacket for this album was hand-drawn by popular illustrator Tsutomu Date, featuring the familiar sun goddess from Ramsey Lewis' album "SUN GODDESS."
